Last Minute D2L Survival Guide
As soon as you can
- Update your Profile First Log in, Profile, Settings
- Import Material, (Gray Bar, Edit Course), coming soon
- Create News item letting your class know more information is coming
- Begin creating your Content... syllabus first, then info on items that need to be done the first week. Just stay a week ahead of the class for now.
- Design your gradebook on paper, then create the placeholders in the gradebook for the items you will be grading
- Set up a 'Just for chatting' and 'Questions?' discussion
- Decide if you will have weekly discussions, and make any required for week 1
- Create the dropboxes for items students will submit electronically, and associate with the proper gradebook item
Take a deep breath, and start working ahead
- Each week add
- new News items, as needed
- new Content items, as needed
...
- Import quizzes provide by publisher, or from colleagues, or start building your own. Associate with gradebook items.
For the next semester
- Import your previous class
- Adjust dates
- Check settings
Perhaps add
- Attendance
- Checklists
- Surveys
- Milestone Grades
When you are getting comfortable, perhaps add
- Objectives
- Rubrics
