  2. '74 Mustang II1978, traded for a 1974 Mustang II (Bronze)
  3. '86 Mustang1982, my first new car, a 1982 Plymouth Champ (Silver)
  4. '86 Mustang1986, new Mustang Convertible GT, 5.0 (blue)


The Collins family stable started in 1989...

29 years, 25 cars...At least we have slowed down; I hope we aren't due again!

    1989, start with these cars in the garage:

  2. '88 Impulse1988 Isuzu Impulse (red)
  3. '87 Jetta1989: 1986 Mustang out, 1987 Jetta in (dark gray four door)
    Reason: reduce payments and improve economy, no need for two sports cars... trade older one
  4. '86 Audi1990:1987 Jetta out, 1986 Audi 5000 in (silver-blue)
    Reason: Jetta stolen, 1st Child born (Gracie), need slightly larger car
  5. '91 Mazda1991: 1986 Audi out, 1991 Mazda 626 in (silver)
    Reason: Audi proves to be repair shop queen, traded for a reliable Mazda 626 of similar seating and truck space
  6. '93 Caravan1993: 1991 Mazda out, 1993 Caravan in (dark wine colored)
    Reason: 2nd child arrives (Diane), trade for ability to haul child seats, diaper bags, and playpens
  7. '94 Caravan1994: 1993 Caravan out, 1994 Caravan in (silver-tan)
    Reason: traded Caravan for the new model Caravan with passenger airbag, and reclining built in child seats
  8. '95 Caravan1995: 1994 Caravan out, 1995 Caravan in (blue)
    Reason: Caravan hit buy drunk driver and totaled, replaced with another, new Caravan
  9. '96 Stratus1996: 1995 Caravan out, 1996 Stratus SE in (black)
    Reason: one kid out of car seat, no more diaper bags and play pens, go for sporty four door
    Okay, so we got tired of arguing about who would drive the fun car!
  10. '98 Neon1998: 1988 Impulse out, 1998 Plymouth Neon in (dark gray)
    Reason: traded Impulse for high mpg, fully loaded, sporty, four door to facilitate big kids
  11. '99 Elantra1999: 1996 Stratus out, 1999 Hyundai Elantra in (Cape Blue)
    Reason: traded Stratus for long warranty (60,000 miles), fully loaded, sporty, four door.
  12. '01 Elantra 2001: 1999 Hyundai out, 2001 Hyundai Elantra GT in (Obsidian Black)
    Reason: traded Hyundai for even better designed, even more sporty five door, with the exact equipment desired, kept until totaled.
  13. '02 NEon 2001: 1998 Neon out, 2002 Neon SXT in (Black)
    Reason: trade Neon for even better designed, even more sporty model, with the exact equipment plus remote entry.
  14. '04 Elantra 2004: 2001 Hyundai Elantra out, 2004 Hyundai Elantra GT in (Black)
    Reason: Replace totaled car w/ high warranty (60,000 miles), fully loaded, sporty, four door.
    Transfered to Gracie when Neon crashed; scrapped in 2014 when engine failed
  15. '90 Dynasty 2006: 1990 Dodge Dynasty with 21,000 miles (Black Cherry), added to the stable
    Reason: Car for (shudder) eldest daughter... Retired in 2009
  16. '04 Elantra 2008: 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe with 171,000 miles (Black), added to the stable
    Reason: Car for youngest daughter Diane, she still drives it (200,000 miles+).
  17. '96 Toyota 2009: 1996 Toyota Corolla with 90,000 miles (green), added to the stable
    Reason: 20 year old Dynasty became to unreliable... shortlived... totalled by a non-family member in 2010

  18. Saturn2010: 2006 Saturn Ion with 80,000 miles (silver with dark black interior)
    Reason: to replace wrecked Toyota...(178,000 miles+).

  19. Mini 2013: 2008 Mini Cooper 90,000 miles (blue with black interior)
    Reason: to replace wrecked Neon... Driven by Susann (104,000 miles+)
  20. Mini 2014: 2014 Ford Focus SE New with 32 miles (Sterling Gray Metallic with charcoal black interior)
    Reason: to replace scrapped 2004 Elantra... Driven by Craig
  21. Mini 2014: 2002 Ford Focus SE Wagon 107000 miles ( Gray Metallic with gray interior)
    Reason: to replace scrapped 2006 Saturn after collision... Driven by Gracie
    Exterra 2015: 2007 Nissan Exterra ( Gray Metallic with gray interior)
  22. Reason: to replace scrapped 2003 Santa Fe after engine died with 218k miles... Driven by Diane
  23. 2015 Focus 2015: 2015 Ford Focus New with 250 miles (Magnetic Gray with black interior)
    Reason: to replace 2014 Focus with newer version and better interest rate... Driven by Craig
  24. Jeep 2017: 2008 Jeep (Silver with black interior)
    Reason: to replace 2007 Nissan Exterra that blew the transmission... Driven by Diane
  25. Honda 2018: 2008 Honda Fit (Blue with black interior)
    Reason: to replace 2002 Focus that blew main fuse... Driven by Gracie
